I began sanding down the paint on the fender as that was going to be the hardest part of the lot. I was hoping to just sand the surface of it, but by the time I had feathered it out on all those chips a lot of it was going right down to the metal. So I quickly had to mask it up and primer it before the end of the day:
I was happy with how the section I started came out, I snapped a few shots while the primer was still glossy and you can see it was actually pretty flat, you couldn’t see any of the old paint impressions anywhere:
Over the next few days I continued sanding and preparing it for paint. The door was now sanded and ready with the edges primered, the fender was fully primered and I sanding down the whole roof and primering a few spots. Fully committed now:
