Riaction Coilovers Review – Read This Before You Buy

Riaction Coilovers Review

In this post I’m going to present to you another brand of coilover which has been making a name for itself in the market – Riaction.

Riaction have been growing more and more popular lately, but the question is, just how good are their coilovers really?

I’m going to cover what I found out about about them, and if they are worth buying. So keep reading.

About Riaction

Riaction as a brand was founded in 2014 under Taiwan Ria Enterprise Co., Ltd and is based in Taichung City, Taiwan. Riaction claim on their website that they received help from a “very experienced company in Japan” to get their suspension businesses up and running, though who that is exactly wasn’t stated.

In 2015, RiactionUSA was founded to distribute and sell the coilovers to the American market. They are based in California, where they do all their quality controls, testing, servicing and assemble custom coilovers.

RiactionUSA do not hide that their coilovers are made in Taiwan. In fact, they openly say so on their website, which is a good sign. Being made in Taiwan is also not a bad thing, as many of the big names like BC Racing, D2, Megan Racing and A’PEXi all have their coilovers made in Taiwan.

The team at ReactionUSA are themselves car enthusiasts and are involved in car events and trackdays, which is another a good sign.

After doing a bit of digging, I found that reviews on Riaction (USA that is) as a company were very positive, from their customer service to their warranty claims. It seems that they do a good job in keeping customers happy and are very quick to deal with problems and send out parts. I found several mentions specifically stating how quickly their parts arrived, so you won’t be waiting long to get your new coilovers.

As for the coilovers themselves, let’s take a look at them in details.

About Riaction Coilovers

Riaction Coilovers

Reaction’s coilovers are built with performance in mind, and are designed to be used on the track as well as the street.

All the coilovers in their range share some distinct features including:

  • Being fully rebuildable
  • Customizable (Swift Springs and/or custom spring rates) and upgradeable to 2-way or even switching between linear and digressive valving
  • 32-levels of dampening adjustment
  • Ride height adjustment done by shock body, giving you full suspension travel at all heights and ability to set spring preload
  • Lowers the car 1-3 inches on most models
  • Camber adjustable strut mounts on applicable models
  • 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects, as well as a lifetime labor warranty which means you only need to pay for the parts, and they will service your coilovers for free! (This is a great selling point if you ask me)

They sell 4 coilover kits:

  • GT-1
  • GT-2
  • GP-1
  • GP-2

The GT series are linear valved coilovers, with the GT-1 being only rebound adjustable and the GT-2 being 2-way independent compression and rebound adjustable with external reservoir.

The GP series are digressive valved, giving the dampers much more low speed control. The GP-1 are only rebound adjustable while the GP-2 are 2-way individual compression and rebound adjustable with external reservoir.

The big difference between these two valving systems is the digressive valving ramps up the damping force a lot quicker at lower piston speeds, which helps to keep the car more stable and minimize small movements. This can have an effect on ride quality, so these dampers are more for people who are prioritizing stability such as high speed racing and track use.

The linear damping is the standard on most street coilover kits because the give a slightly more comfortable ride, so these would be more suited to the daily driver/street car that sees occasional track use or performance driving.

The Reaction 1-way coilovers sell for about the $1000 range, so that puts them as a direct competitor to the BC Racing BR Series.

So How Good Are Riaction Coilovers?

From everything I can find, Riaction coilovers are very good. From the build quality and materials, to the well done packaging for shipping and the actual performance of the coilovers, Riaction have taken care to do a good job every step of the way.

People have reported that they are on the stiffer side, despite many of their kits having lower spring rates than other brands. That being said, these are designed for performance, so they are made to improve the car’s handling – which is what stiff suspension does.

Everything I could find about the build quality, ride comfort and longevity were all positive reports. I actually searched specifically for problems with Riaction coilovers and wasn’t able to find anything. Now, some of that will be due to the fact that they are a relatively new company, and that they aren’t as popular yet as, say, BC. But there’s definitely no lack of positive reviews for them.

So it seems that Riaction has really hit the nail on the head and made a great coilover kit for a very affordable price. If you were looking at coilovers and want something that will be good for your street and track car, or were considering BC Racing, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check out Riaction coilovers as well.
