Fortune Auto Coilovers Review – How Good Are They Really?

Fortune Auto Review

If you are looking for serious coilovers that prioritize performance and are well built, you may have heard of Fortune Auto.

Fortune Auto is a relatively new suspension brand, only about a decade old, but they have built up a big reputation in that short time for producing some of the best coilovers in the world.

In this post we will go into detail about the company and their coilovers.

About Fortune Auto

Fortune Auto was founded in 2011 and in based in Virgina, USA. They specialize solely in making coilovers for European and Japanese vehicles and have their own facility where they R&D, design, test and assemble their suspension components.

Fortune Auto put a lot of time and effort into ensuring they produce quality products, and spend a lot of time testing their coilovers on the track in order to improve them in every way.

They are the official supplier of suspension for Global Time Attack, and their suspension has also been used in other motorsport classes including Formula Drift, NASA Racing Series, Redline Time Attack, World Challenge and more.

Fortune Auto Coilovers

There are a number of things that make Fortune Auto coilovers special.

Firstly, every single damper is put on a shock dyno and matched to ensure that all damper pairs match each other to with a 3% tolerance.

Second, their coilovers are what Fortune Auto calls “Modular”, which means that they are able to be upgraded.

Their entry level coilover, the 500 Series, is able to be upgraded with 2-way dampening adjustability and an external oil reservoir. This is so that their products don’t have to be replaced when you decide you want an upgrade, you can simply send them in and get the extras installed. I don’t know of any other company that does that currently.

Along with testing every damper, they also hand assemble and test every single coilover kit in their facility in Virginia, ensuring that every kit is 100% top quality.

Fortune Auto coilovers use a monotube damper with high flow digressive piston technology which provides a low speed compression and rebound force, giving more control and feel to the driver over the car’s roll, pitch, dive and squat. However, at fast piston speeds, the suspension soaks up large dips and bumps for increased comfort.

They offer a range of coilovers from the 500 Series all the way up to a 3-way adjustable kit made specifically for track use.

Let’s take a look at the 500 in detail as that’s what most people will be buying.

Fortune Auto 500 Series Coilovers

The Fortune Auto 500 Series is the entry level option, but despite this, comes with a ton of options and superb build quality.

It is primarily designed as a street coilover that will see occasional track use.

However, as mentioned before, the 500 Series can also be upgraded into the 510 Series, and even beyond, to include an external reservoir. So if you decide that you do want to use them more as a track specific coilover, you don’t have to buy a new set, you can just send them in to Fortune Auto to get them upgraded to either 510 spec or PRO 2-way spec.

They also offer a Super Low option which ads 2 inches of extra lowering over stock.

The 500 Series features include:

  • Ride height adjustable at the shock body base, giving you full suspension travel at all ride heights
  • Lowers the vehicle from 1-3 inches (2.5-5 inches on the Super Low option)
  • 24-way rebound dampening adjustability
  • Monotube damper with high pressure nitrogen and high flow digressive piston technology
  • T6 6061 aluminium strut mounts with camber adjustment on applicable vehicles
  • Hand assembled and dyno tested
  • Fully rebuildable
  • 5 years warranty
  • Swift Springs offered as an optional upgrade
  • Upgradeable to 2-way adjustable with external reservoir

So, Should You Get Fortune Auto Coilovers?

The short answer is yes. If you have the money, there is really no reason not to go with Fortune Autos.

There are very few, if any, other coilover brands that offer the options that Fortune Auto do, especially the ability to upgrade. They put a lot of time and effort into ensuring they build a truly high quality coilover kit that will do exactly as it says – perform on the street and track.

The fact that they offer a 5 year warranty which is one of the highest in the industry means they truly stand behind their products. No matter what car you drive, whether it’s an E46, a BRZ, WRX, 350z, Integra or Focus ST, you really can’t go wrong with Fortune Autos.
