Ksport Coilovers Review – Are They Any Good?
If you are looking at affordable coilover kits, you’ve no doubt come across the name Ksport. Ksport has been in the suspension game for over 10 years now, making coilovers for a wide range of vehicles, originally in the “budget” coilover tier, and since expanding into more suspension options ranging from airbags to race-spec coilovers.
The question is, just how good are their suspension products? In this post we will answer this question.
About Ksport
Ksport was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Mesa, Arizona. Initially making only one set of coilovers, Ksport has expanded their line up to include a wide range of coilovers from entry level to full race-spec, as well as brake kits, airbag suspension setups and more.
They also had a Formula Drift team, competing with a Nissan 350z with a 6.7L stroker Chevy V8 in 2012 and 2013.
Their coilovers and brake kits are made in Taiwan, with the coilovers being made by BC Racing and are very similar to D2 coilovers.
Are Ksport Coilovers Any Good?
Upon doing a lot of forum digging, reading many posts and reviews to try and form an unbiased opinion, the truth is that their early products had mixed reviews at best.
While I did find a lot of positive comments, I also came across an overwhelming number of negative reports of their coilovers failing, making noises, harsh ride, rusting and seized collars, shocks blowing soon after install and more.
I even found a case where someone took the shocks to a shock dyno, and what they found was drastic differences between the two shocks (one left and one right), so much so that one set to full soft was equivalent to the other when set to full stiff. They also found that the damper settings were more like an on-off switch rather than 36-way adjustable.
However, almost all of these were pre 2010.
From 2010 onwards, it seems that they addressed these issues. It was harder to find bad reviews after that date, and more and more positive comments were being made about them.
So it appears that their early products had some quality control problems, with the coilovers either being excellent or being terrible, and you just had to roll the dice and see what you got.
The products they sell today seem to be a lot better with many more positive reviews about all aspects of the coilovers, from the comfort of the ride to the build quality and even how long they last. From what I can find, they are made by the BC Racing factory in Taiwan, so you can expect similar quality levels to BC Racing coilovers (which have proven to be very good – you can read my BC Racing coilovers review here).
So while they may have had a shaky start, I think it’s fair to say that Ksport course corrected and now sell a decent product. They also offer a 12 month warranty which covers any manufacturing defects and part failures.
Initially they only offered the one coilover option, being the Kontrol Pro, but now they offer 10 different coilover kits, ranging from the Kontrol Pro all the way to drift specific, tarmac specific, dirt rally specific and more. They even offer airbag suspension.
While I won’t go into the details of all of their coilover kits in this post, I will cover the features of the Kontrol Pro, since that is their most popular kit.
Ksport Kontrol Pro Coilovers
The Ksport Kontrol Pro coilovers are designed as an entry level coilover kit that can be used on both the street and the track.
They come with a huge range of features including:
- Ride height adjustment at the shock body, meaning you get full suspension travel at all heights and can set the spring pre-load
- Monotube shocks with separated oil and gas design
- 36-level dampening adjustability
- Camber adjustable pillowball strut mounts on applicable models
- 6061-T6 billet aluminium used for most parts including mounts, collars and spring perches to ensure rust resistance as well as weight reduction
- Zinc electroplated steel shock bodies
- Come with anti-rust paste for the threads
- 12 months warranty
The only downside is that they are not rebuildable.
However, for a coilover kit that sells for just over $1000, this is a decent list of features and make them a good affordable kit that can handle both street and track.

So, Should You Buy Ksport Coilovers?
Despite their checkered past, from everything I can find, Ksport coilovers are a good option as an affordable coilover kit for around $1000 that will give you comfortable daily driving as well as durability to handle track use. They come full of features, and since they seem to have solved their quality issues, have many happy customers who give good reviews.
Seeing as they are made by BC Racing, who make good coilovers, I would say that Ksports are a good option.
