My eBay gear knob broke, so I had to find a way to fix it. Here’s how I did it, so if you have the same issue you can fix it too.
Basically, the issue is that the gear knob relies on putting pressure on the bottom of the insert to keep it solid. The problem is that piece is plastic, and over time it got weak and broke.
So I glued it back together with superglue, and in order to solve this design flaw and prevent it from happening again, I wrapped the threads in electrical tape to take the slack out. This keeps the gear knob far more solid so you don’t need to put so much pressure on the bottom piece.
