Do TEIN Really Make Coilovers for the MK6 Jetta?

TEIN Coilovers for Mk6 Jetta

TEIN are one of the most reputable coilover companies on the planet. They are known for making high quality coilover kits at low prices, and having a wide range of applications from street use to pure motorsport kits.

So, Do TEIN Make Coilovers for the MK6 Jetta?

Sadly, no they don’t. Unfortunately, TEIN don’t make any coilover kits for the MK6 platform, be it Golf or Jetta. Aside from contacting them to get a completely custom made kit, there aren’t any TEIN coilovers available at this point in time.

However!

If you are looking for coilovers in the TEIN price range, here are a few very good alternatives to go for (read my full MK6 Jetta coilover guide here).

TEIN Alternative Coilovers Options for the MK6 Jetta

BC Racing BR Series

BC Racing BR Series for MK6 Jetta

Top of the list is the BC Racing BR Series. BC Racing coilovers need no introduction, they are extremely popular worldwide and have proven themselves to be excellent coilovers for both street and track use.

At just a couple of hundred dollars more than the TEIN Flex Z’s usually cost, they give you everything the Flex Z’s would, plus they have monotube dampers with linear valving and 30-level adjustment, as opposed to the TEIN’s twin-tube. This makes the BC’s better for performance driving.

The BR Series also offer very high degree of customization, allowing you to select custom spring rates and valving, Extreme Low option if you are looking to slam your car, and even upgrade to Swift Springs for a more comfortable ride and better performance.

They also come with front camber plates, are fully rebuildable (with either the rebuild done by BC, or they will sell you the parts to do it), and come with a 1 year warranty.

These are one of the best value for money kits on the market today, and are a fantastic option for cars that will be primarily used on the street, may see some track time or want to go super low.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment by the shock body – 1-3 inches on the standard kit, up to 4 inches on the Extreme Low kit
  • 30-level dampening adjustment
  • Monotube dampers with linear valving
  • Camber adjustable front strut mounts
  • MK6 Jetta Spring Rates: 7K front, 7kg rear
  • Custom spring rates and valving available
  • Swift Spring upgrade available
  • Fully rebuildable
  • 1 year warranty

Godspeed MonoSS

Godspeed MonoSS for MK6 Jetta

The Godspeed MonoSS are a great budget coilover options for cars that will be used primarily on the street. These are cheaper than the TEIN Street Advance Z but offer more features.

These Godspeed coilovers have become the go-to budget choice because they offer surprisingly good quality for their super low price.

At only $675, these coilovers not only give you a comfortable street ride (as confirmed by many reviews), but they also come packed with features including 16-level dampening adjustable monotube dampers and even camber adjustable strut mounts.

The problem with most coilovers in this price bracket is that they use very cheap parts to be able to sell them for so cheap, which reflects in the overall quality of the product and how it performs.

However, according to many reviews online, is seems like Godspeed has somehow managed to pull it off, because they have a lot of positive reviews and happy customers.

If your Jetta is only going to be used as a street car and you are on a budget, these are a decent option.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment by the shock body
  • 16-level dampening adjustment
  • Monotube dampers
  • “Race” grade damper oil with “performance internal piston”
  • Camber adjustable front strut mount with Koyo Japan bearings
  • MK6 Jetta spring rates: 7 kg front, 6 kg rear
  • 1 year warranty

Solo-Werks S1

Solo-Werks S1 for MK6 Jetta

The Solo-Werks S1 coilovers are an incredible suspension kit for an insanely low price and are about the same level as the TEIN Street Basis Z.

At $499, you would not image that anyone could produce a coilover kit that is even relatively decent, but Solo-Werks have made it happen.

Made by ex-KW engineers, the Solo-Werks team took what they learned and used it to make their own entry-level coilover that gives insane value for money.

This kit is designed as a street kit, and although it doesn’t come with all the features as the other coilovers listed here such as the dampening adjustment and camber adjustable strut mounts, it does offer a very comfortable ride and a huge lowering range.

The shock bodies are designed to withstand extreme corrosion, are plated with heavy duty gold zinc and have been salt spray tested for 500 hours.

The dampers are twin-tube and are fine tuned to provide the perfect balance of handling and comfort for street use.

If you are on a tight budget and want a coilover kit that’s going to give you a comfortable ride on the street, you’ll struggle to find better at this price.

Features include:

  • Ride height adjustment by spring perch – Lowering range: 35-65mm (1.4-2.5 inches) front, 35-70mm (1.4-2.75 inches) rear
  • Twin tube dampers fine tuned for a comfortable street ride
  • Heavy gold zinc plated shock bodies which have been salt spray tested for 500 hours
  • High-tensile chrome silicone wire springs
  • Progressive rate elastomer bump stops designed for more comfort
  • Bottle Boeshield T-9 Lubricant/Protectant
